This looks good to me, but I wonder whether we should wait and kick the tires on it a little bit more before pulling anything into main. What if we proceeded as follows:
This would let us gauge how hard it would be to keep the index up-to-date as we continue working on content. |

Claude did a lot of changes to files, and I checked some but I think it might be easiest to scan a pull request to look for giant swaths of red for deleted stuff.
