Summary

Removes the pre-implementation VOLUME_DIRECTION.md direction doc, which was fully superseded by CONTRACT_VOLUME.md, IMPLEMENTATION_PLAN.md Phase 6, and README.md. The two unique design discipline statements are folded into the authoritative contract.

Highlights

  • Remove docs/VOLUME_DIRECTION.md (95 lines) — all content already captured elsewhere
  • Add design discipline rules to CONTRACT_VOLUME.md Dataset Boundary section:
    • "Neither is a wrapper or special case of the other"
    • "Adapters remain minimal; lifecycle semantics stay in Lode core"
    • "Runtime-aware policy belongs in consuming systems, not in Lode"
  • Update ARCH_INDEX.md to remove the reference

Test plan

  • No remaining references to VOLUME_DIRECTION.md in the repo
  • Design discipline statements preserved in CONTRACT_VOLUME.md
  • Only 3 files changed, net -90 lines
  • Review that no unique content was lost

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

VOLUME_DIRECTION.md was a pre-implementation direction doc superseded by
CONTRACT_VOLUME.md, IMPLEMENTATION_PLAN.md Phase 6, and README. The two
unique design discipline statements (adapters remain minimal; runtime
policy belongs in consumers) are folded into CONTRACT_VOLUME.md's
Dataset Boundary section. Everything else was already captured.

- Remove docs/VOLUME_DIRECTION.md
- Add design discipline rules to CONTRACT_VOLUME.md Dataset Boundary
- Remove ARCH_INDEX.md reference
