Lingo

This is a clone (in Scratch) of the TV Show Lingo hoisted by RuPaul. Lingo is a long-running word-based television game show where contestants compete to decode mystery words based on their first letter and subsequent clues. Originally created by Ralph Andrews in 1987, it has become a global format with successful iterations in the UK, the US, and the Netherlands.

Rules: How to play?

  1. It is very similar to Wordle. A green letter means that the letter is correctly placed. A yellow letter means that the letter is incorrectly placed. A grey letter means that the word letter is not in the word.
  2. Each green letter can get 100 points to the player, a yellow letter can get 50 points to the player.
  3. If the player types a word that is not included in the dictionary, they will be deducted 50 points. An offensive word will be duducted 1000 points to the player. (* Note: I won't tell you what the offensive words are. I've censored 307 words targeting people with disabilities, the LGBTQ+ community, people of African descent and terms related to anatomy or associated with historical trauma.)
  4. If the player can solve the puzzle in 1 try, they will get 1000 points. 2 tries: 500 points, 3 tries: 300 points, 4 points: 100 points, 5 points: 50 points, 6: +25.
  5. If the word does not follow the first letter, they are likely to deduct 50 points due to the violation of its rules.
  6. A word cannot be guessed twice or more. They won't score.
  7. If you want to play this game, it is recommended to use Google, Microsoft Edge, Linux, Opera etc. devices to run because you need to download the font "DIN 2014". (https://font.gooova.com/fonts/15360/din-2014-font-family.html)

Inclusivity, Features and Accessibility: What is the reason for creating this game?

  1. After the player types the word, it will have some sounds. A high C is a green letter, a middle C is a yellow letter, a low C is a blue letter.
  2. For people who are blind, with low vision or dyslexia can change the colour theme with the list "colour codes" in the .sb3 file. Item 1 is the colour of the "not exist", item 2 is the colour of "correctly placed" while item 3 is the colour of "wrongly placed".
  3. For inclusive communication, it is recommended for parents to want their kids to stop using slurs. Slurs are never acceptable in the game. [see the rules above]
  4. For the answer list, some words are also removed because it is so associated with historical trauma or considered vulgar or offensive.
  5. You may customise the vocabulary to target the players by their English skills, e.g. for A1-A2 learners, the user can set the answers to simple words like "apple", "banana", "phone" or "blue".
  6. There are a lot of rewards to keep track to their progess and evalutate themselves and penalties to make the game more competitive like a race.

Oh, sorry, I've been very busy recently so I don't have time to work on my fonts. I've been focusing on Wordle games.
