I understand that this PR will most likely not be the final.
After building my own dashbrew-basebox with vmware support (from my addition in mohatt/dashbrew-basebox#1) and adding the box locally, I was able to remove these chmod/chown directives and the provisioner was able to run successfully.
I am not sure if/why this is needed for the virtualbox provider so any info will help to resolve into a final pull request.
