Additional details on the example update:
The buttons in the top-left pane will now only self-delete if the relevant setting checkbox is checked. I also made a change the printf() output when these buttons are clicked, so that the output states whether they were deleted or not. (I also made another change so the output includes the button label, which I thought this was a cool and useful demonstration, but this is distinct from the UICheckbox specific changes.)
