OVD is a desktop video downloader for saving videos and audio from supported websites. It is designed to be clear, dependable, and easy to use: paste a link, choose your preferred output, and let OVD manage the queue.

- Download one video or queue multiple URLs at once.
- Paste multiple links using a new line for each URL.
- Download videos, audio, or playlists when supported by the source site.
- Preview title, thumbnail, available quality, and format before downloading.
- Choose an output container such as MP4, MKV, or audio formats when available.
- Prefer H.264/AVC, AV1, or VP9 video when the source provides it.
- Monitor progress, retry failed downloads, and review download history.
- Save completed downloads to the
OVD-Filesfolder by default. - Use RSS subscriptions for supported feeds and recurring downloads.
Download the installer for your operating system from the official OVD page or the project's public releases.
- Download the Windows installer.
- Open the
.exefile and follow the installation steps. - Launch OVD from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.
- Download the macOS
.dmgfile. - Open it and drag OVD to the Applications folder.
- Open OVD from Applications.

Make it executable in your file manager or with:
chmod +x OVD-*.AppImage -
Open the AppImage.
Install the .deb package with your software center or:
sudo apt install ./ovd_*.deb- Open OVD and stay on the Download page.
- Paste one or more supported video URLs into the large URL field.
- Use a new line for each additional URL.
- Select Fetch to preview the available video information.
- Choose the quality, container, or codec you want.
- Select Download.
OVD detects copied URLs automatically when clipboard detection is enabled. You can turn this behavior off from the download controls.
The selected quality is a preference, not a guarantee. The source website must provide the requested quality and codec. If the exact choice is unavailable, OVD may use the closest compatible format or show a clear fallback message.
H.264/AVC is recommended when broad device compatibility is important. AV1 can provide smaller files at similar quality, but support varies between devices and players.
Completed files are saved in OVD-Files by default. You can change the destination from Settings. Use Open Folder in download history to locate a completed file quickly.
OVD uses the supported-site list maintained by yt-dlp. Availability can change when a website updates its platform or access rules. See the Supported Sites page inside OVD for the current list.
Only download content that you have permission to save. Respect the terms of service and copyright rules of each website.
- Confirm that the URL is complete and publicly accessible.
- Try fetching the URL again.
- Set up browser cookies in OVD when the website requires an account or age verification.
- Update OVD to the latest available version.
The source may not provide that quality or codec. Choose Auto or a more compatible option such as MP4 with H.264/AVC.
File size depends on the source bitrate, selected quality, codec, and whether the source provides a separate video and audio stream. Check the preview information before starting the download.
Check the Supported Sites page first. If the site is listed but the download still fails, use the report option in OVD and include the source URL and error details without sharing private cookies or account information.
