Usage: OpenAuto Page
Dash runs OpenAuto within the first page. On this page, you can also configure OpenAuto specific settings through the gear icon in the top right corner.
These settings are explained in detail below.
This setting toggles between Left and Right-Hand drive. This will change the look of Android Auto to be more optimal for your car.
Select between running Android Auto at 30 or 60fps. Note that higher FPS might result in reduced performance (this is greatly phone dependent)
Select between running Android Auto at 480p, 720p, and 1080p. Note that higher resolution might result in reduced performance (this is greatly phone dependent). Note that a higher resolution + larger DPI select will run Android Auto within "wide screen" mode, resulting in a changed Android Auto layout.
Selects the DPI (dots per inch) for Android Auto. This is similar to setting the "scale" of Android Auto to be appropriate for your screen. Note that when combined with a higher resolution setting, Android Auto will run within "wide screen" mode, resulting in a changed Android Auto layout.
Selects between using RtAudio and QtAudio backends. Depending on your system setup, one may result in better performance than another. Note that some configurations will result in a white screen when using the RtAudio backend. If this occurs on your system, please try turning RtAudio off.
Selects which audio channels to route through Android Auto. If a channel is turned off, that audio type will not be routed through Android Auto for output, and will remain playing on the phone.
When turned on, and using Android Auto through a USB connection, OpenAuto will attempt to have your phone's bluetooth pair with the device running OpenAuto.
Note that this usually fails.
Autoconnect Last Device
When using Android Auto Wireless (See setup below), this setting will make OpenAuto attempt to connect to the last phone used with Android Auto Wireless upon Dash launch.
Touchscreen
Toggles touchscreen input within Android Auto
Turns on/off Android Auto shortcut keys
With the launch of Android 11, Android Auto wireless is now a supported feature.
To configure this setting, the device running Dash must either be emitting a hotspot, or be connected to the same wireless network as the phone you wish to use.
Your device must also have bluetooth capabilities.
Configuring of this feature is done manually, within ~/openauto.ini
Fill in these settings as appropriate
[WiFi]
SSID=
Password=
AdapterMAC=
Set this to the SSID of the hotspot being emitted, or the common wifi network
Set this to the password of the hotspot being emitted, or the common wifi network
If using a hotspot emitted from the device running dash, this setting can be left blank for normal setups. If using a common wifi network, set this to the BSSID of the network.
Once these settings are applied, connect your phone to the bluetooth of the device running Dash. You should see a message pop up which says, "Looking for Android Auto". Your phone should then automatically connect to Android Auto within dash.
If using the Autoconnect Last Device setting of OpenAuto, upon the next launch of dash, OpenAuto will attempt to connect to your phone automatically.
Double Click (or tap) anywhere on the screen while in the openauto tab to toggle between fullscreen and standard views of openauto.
