Summary

  • Link: https://planetscale.com/changelog/mcp-service-token-auth
  • Added PlanetScale MCP authentication guidance covering interactive OAuth versus service-token authentication for CI, scheduled automations, and other headless clients.
  • Updated project AGENTS.md guidance to record MCP auth method and required scopes without storing token values.
  • Reflected scoped service-token guidance in the best-practices matrix and CLI automation MCP cross-reference.

Why

PlanetScale MCP now supports service token authentication, which changes recommended guidance for headless and CI agents. The skills should direct agents to use least-privilege service tokens where OAuth browser login is not available, while keeping token values out of instructions, logs, and review artifacts.
