🚨 Severity: CRITICAL
πŸ’‘ Vulnerability: User-controlled and dynamic inputs were interpolated directly into shell commands via execSync, creating command injection risks. Additionally, shell pipe operators (like | wc -l or stderr suppressions 2>/dev/null) within these interpolations introduced instability and platform dependency.
🎯 Impact: If user-provided inputs (like project paths or dynamically gathered executable locations) contain shell metacharacters (e.g., ;, &&, ||), it allows arbitrary command execution in the context of the user running the CLI tool.
πŸ”§ Fix: Replaced vulnerable execSync calls with execFileSync, ensuring commands are executed without a shell. Arguments are now strictly passed as arrays, preventing shell interpolation. Redirections (e.g., 2>/dev/null) have been natively ported to stdio: ['pipe', 'pipe', 'ignore'], and shell processing (e.g., | wc -l) has been implemented natively in JavaScript logic.
βœ… Verification: Run node --test tests/*.test.mjs to ensure CLI tests continue passing. Check the output of functions like score to verify churn calculations are still functional.
