Summary of Changes

Hello @rubiin, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request, titled 'Next Major Version', introduces a significant overhaul by migrating the project's configuration and theme files from JSON to TOML format. This change impacts file handling, documentation, and the internal logic for reading and writing configurations. Alongside this core migration, the PR includes numerous styling improvements, refactoring of UI components, dependency updates, and general code cleanup to prepare the codebase for its next major release, aiming for enhanced maintainability and a more streamlined user experience.

Highlights

  • Configuration File Migration: The project has migrated its configuration and theme files from JSON (.json) to TOML (.toml) format, affecting various scripts, documentation, and core logic.
  • Styling Refinements and Mixins: Several SCSS files have been updated to introduce new mixins for consistent styling of icons and labels, and to refactor quick settings sliders and dialog elements.
  • Dependency Updates: Documentation dependencies for Astro have been updated to newer versions.
  • Settings GUI Enhancements: The settings graphical user interface now includes a dedicated tab for layout configuration and uses TOML for saving changes, along with improved notification handling.
  • Codebase Cleanup and Consistency: Various modules have been refactored to remove redundant imports, centralize common regex patterns, and improve variable usage for better maintainability.

🧠 New Feature in Public Preview: You can now enable Memory to help Gemini Code Assist learn from your team's feedback. This makes future code reviews more consistent and personalized to your project's style. Click here to enable Memory in your admin console.

Code Review

This pull request introduces a significant and well-executed migration from JSON to TOML for configuration files, which greatly improves their readability and maintainability. The changes are comprehensive, touching upon configuration loading, file watching, documentation, and helper utilities. Additionally, the PR includes valuable code quality improvements, such as centralizing constants and refactoring SCSS to use mixins for better reusability. My review includes one minor suggestion to replace a debug print statement with a proper logger call for consistency.
