This commit introduces a new GitHub Actions workflow for continuous integration. The workflow runs on every push and pull request to the main branch and includes jobs for linting and testing the codebase across multiple operating systems and Python versions. This new CI workflow complements the existing release.yml workflow, which handles the deployment process.
