Somnos — Sleep Schedule Intelligence

For shift workers, on-call staff, and anyone whose sleep schedule moves around.

Most sleep apps tell you how long you slept. Somnos focuses on schedule drift — when you sleep, how much your onset time varies, and whether rest happens during daylight hours that may signal shift-work or irregular patterns.

This is a wellness self-tracking project. It does not diagnose medical conditions or determine fitness for duty.

Live demo

Open the interactive demo report →

The demo uses 100% synthetic data shaped like a shift-worker pattern (delayed night sleep + occasional afternoon blocks). No real user health records are included.

What you'll see:

  • Irregularity score (0–100)
  • Interactive Plotly timeline and onset charts
  • Personalized wellness recommendations
  • Daylight / irregular sleep flags

Who this is for

  • Nurses and healthcare staff on rotating shifts
  • Security, logistics, and emergency workers
  • Anyone whose sleep onset drifts week to week
  • People who nap during the day but track mostly "night" sleep elsewhere

Privacy-first by design

  • Runs locally on your Mac from an Apple Health export
  • No account, no cloud upload, no third-party APIs
  • Your export never needs to leave your machine

Try it yourself

Full install instructions will live here when the tool repository opens publicly. For now:

  1. Explore the demo report
  2. Share feedback (link below)
  3. Watch this repo for the open-source release

See docs/TRY_IT.md for the planned local workflow.

We want your feedback

Somnos is at proof-of-concept stage. If you work irregular hours, we'd love to know:

  1. Does the irregularity score match how your schedule feels?
  2. Did any recommendation feel actionable?
  3. Would you re-run this every 1–2 weeks?

What Somnos measures

Metric Meaning
Irregularity score How much your sleep onset varies (higher = more drift)
Daylight sleep flags Sessions starting during typical waking hours
Onset drift Whether bedtimes are shifting earlier or later over time
Timeline Recent sleep blocks mapped to the 24-hour clock

Roadmap (public)

Now POC demo + feedback
Next Open-source local tool (Health export → HTML report)
Later Accounts, weekly reports, enterprise occupational health
Much later Optional Apple Watch capture layer
