okay two options we're gonna need to drop a sddm theme and do some rpm hacks to make users switch automatically fedora isn't doing this and old users are keeping lightdm or switching manually i assume we wanna do the first, lets look into it |

We shouldn't forcibly update users if their old packages are still expected to be working/supported, let's do what Fedora does |

agreed per discord discussion, we need to add back the configs and make either a oneliner or umcli tweak to switch, we can remove the configs in 45 and warn users with a notification on their system that 45 upgrades won't work if they don't switch to sddm |
