auth's rng - mutations

mutations let you combine two rarities to produce a new one - a high-risk, high-reward crafting system with its own currency, shop, and cosmetics.

how mutations work

  1. go to the mutations page
  2. select two different rarities from your inventory using the two dropdowns
  3. press mutate
  4. a result rarity is generated - you'll be asked to keep, sell, or pass on it
  5. there is a 15-second cooldown between mutations

important: your input rarities are never consumed or removed. mutation only produces an additional rarity on top of what you already have!

  • ~35% chance of a "good" result (rarer than your rarer input)
  • ~65% chance of a "bad" result (more common than your worse input)

what counts as good or bad?

result definition
good the output is rarer than your rarer input
bad the output is more common than your worse input

strategy tips

  • auto-mutate (15 trust) is the most impactful early trust purchase - it runs passively and generates trust over time with no effort.
  • keep a personal mutation log to track which pairs tend to give good results (pair bias is fixed per combination).
  • use your rarer rarities as the worse input to get the rarity bonus boost - the rarer the bottom input, the better your odds.
  • avoid passing on good results - even mediocre improvements are +4 trust and add to your inventory.
  • if you're flush on inventory, set mutations to auto-sell to convert passive results into points continuously.
