Entering Discipline Logs

In DART, discipline logs track student discipline events. As an administrator, you can view discipline logs and create discipline events for students. You can also export hard copies of discipline reports for review.

##To view discipline logs

  1. Point to Students, and then click Search for Students.

  1. On the DART System Search page, enter the search criteria. If you know the students name, that is the best place to start.

  1. Click the appropriate student's name to access their information.

  1. You will see the Choose Action list next to the student's name at the top of the page. From this list, select Discipline List.

Note that this is different than older versions of DART, where you would click the student's name, and then see the Choose Action list at the top of the Individual View page.

You will see the Discipline List page. For each discipline event, you will see the type of event, the creation date, the incident date, the status, and the option to edit the event.

Events

To create a discipline event

  1. Access the student's discipline logs using the instructions above.

  2. Click Create Discipline.

You will see the Discipline Log Entry page.

  1. Fill out the information for the discipline event using the lists and spaces provided. Note that their are both weapon and non-weapon incidents and that the date needs to be typed in year-month-day format (Example: 2011-07-12).

For special education situations, fill out the necessary information in the section provided.

  1. When you are finished, click Save Log Entry.

To go back to the list of discipline events, click Discipline List.

##To export discipline logs

  1. Point to Students, and then click Search for Students.

  1. On the DART System Search page, enter the search criteria. If you know the students name, that is the best place to start.

  1. Click to select the appropriate student(s).

  1. In the Export list, choose Discipline Export, and then click Go.

A spreadsheet file will download. You can open this file with a spreadsheet editing program such as Microsoft Excel.
