No, although the mod is designed to be used from Day one to build your crew and their competencies along with the program. Crew from mature career should NOT start completely anew, depending on the current reputation.
Moderate is a good level to play as cash scarcity makes your Headlines play more strategic. However, and no matter which difficulty level you select, set the reward modifier to 100% to remain consistent with contract definitions.

This indicates visually whether you have the hype to reward these contract at this time. Green means fully rewarded, yellow indicates more than 50% rewarded, red is for less than 50%.
- You are pretty sure that you will complete the contract, or at least get enough rep to cover the pledge.
- You expect many records to be broken with rep reward less than your hype.
- You must time the live event to the time the contract completes, not the launch. This is usually the same in early game, but no longer with long experiments, lunar and interplanetary contracts.
- Be very careful to run live events of very large milestones as you may damage your reputation a lot if you fall short.
You need pilots, lots of them, and dedicated to building hype. You may not be able to fully hype: getting the world to understand how cool your program is/can be isn't trivial.
- Use/hire pilots. Each pilot is sure to have one attempt at a media appearance during a campaign, rewarded at 2X their profile.
- Longer campaigns sees additional media appearance for all/most pilots on average every 20 days.
- Flying high profile crew during a campaign boost hype, whether completing a contract or not.
- A reality check may happen, and when it does, cut your hype by the overvaluation percent. High overvaluation makes hype volatile.
- While not in a campaign, you may set the program priority to
Reputationto run a cost-free, but not as effective, campaign. - Although you should never have fatalities, fatalities during a hype build up are particularly bad.
